100-Yen shop (Japanese: hyaku en shop) is my favorite shop here in Japan. (And I have no doubt S too!)  This shop sells a a wide range of products from dishes, cook and bake wares, home decor, toys, foods, toiletries, and sundries to makeup, school and office supplies, stationary goods, accessories, crafting materials, and tools for only 105 yen per item (100 yen plus 5% tax). That is roughly Php 50 per item! Very affordable, it fits our budget perfectly!

Though there are probably thousands of 100-yen shops all throughout Japan, there are just two names that I'm aware of, those that I often see when we go to different places. These are Daiso and Seria.

100-Yen shop, I think, is equivalent to the all-Php 88 Japanese shops in the Philippines. (And perhaps the all-Php 66 depending on the store.)
